Man in Berlin knocked down with a stone and robbed

A 24-year-old man was beaten with a stone and robbed on the platform of the Kottbusser Tor subway station. The suspected perpetrator, also 24 years old, was arrested nearby a short time later, police announced on Monday.

Berlin - Man in Berlin knocked down with a stone and robbed

A 24-year-old man was beaten with a stone and robbed on the platform of the Kottbusser Tor subway station. The suspected perpetrator, also 24 years old, was arrested nearby a short time later, police announced on Monday.

According to initial investigations, the suspect allegedly asked the 24-year-old on the platform on Sunday evening if he would like to buy drugs. When he declined the offer, the alleged perpetrator is said to have hit him in the head with a stone and ripped his watch off his wrist. When witnesses arrived, the alleged perpetrator fled from the station.

After the suspect was apprehended by the police and taken to the police station, he allegedly hit his head against the sliding door of the police car, injuring his head. The police officers then brought the suspect to the ground and gave him first aid. He is also said to have tried to hit his head on the road surface. The emergency services were alerted and took him to hospital because of his behavioral problems. The robbed man refused medical treatment.
