Traffic - Man ignores closed railroad crossing and causes an accident
A 20-year-old driver ignored a railroad crossing barrier in Wittenberg and caused an accident. He crossed the level crossing on Friday despite the half-barrier being closed and skidded on the tracks, police said on Saturday. He then collided with the car waiting on the other side. "Both vehicles sustained considerable material damage."
Criminal proceedings were initiated against the driver. According to the police, the fine for crossing a level crossing despite a closed barrier or half-barrier is 700 euros and results in a 3-month driving ban. This also applies if there is no accident, they said.
