- Man hit by iron from a hammer
A man in Lower Bavaria was struck by a piece of iron from a hammer during repair work. As the police reported, the 49-year-old was occupied on Friday in Fürstenstein (district of Passau) in replacing the chains on a mobile crushing plant. Crushing plants are used to crush, for example, construction debris or other materials.
To connect the chain, the worker, according to the police, drove a steel bolt through a designated opening with a sledgehammer. In the process, a piece of the hammerhead broke off and struck the man "like a projectile" in the chest. The 49-year-old came to the hospital with a heavily bleeding wound, as stated.
The repair work on the mobile crushing plant unfortunately resulted in an accident, with a piece of iron from the hammer striking the worker. Despite wearing safety gear, the worker suffered a severe chest injury from the hammerhead breaking off during the bolt-driving process.
