Escape attempt - Man flees from police and dies in accident

Just before the Czech border, a 72-year-old man in his car fled from the police and died in an accident. Previously, a police patrol in Philippsreut (Freyung-Grafenau district) had wanted to stop the driver in the morning due to his uncertain driving behavior, as stated in a police press release.

However, the senior, who came from the Villingen-Schwenningen area, ignored the blue lights. Instead, he pressed on the gas pedal and raced on the B12 towards the Czech Republic.

Shortly thereafter, the police found the car at a embankment. It had collided against a concrete foundation. Despite reanimation attempts, the man had died at the scene of his severe injuries, according to a spokesperson. Preliminary investigations by the investigators revealed that the driver was not belted in. Now, an expert is supposed to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident.
