Accident - Man driving drunk and without a license: Seriously injured

A 51-year-old drunk driver drove off the road on a scooter in Boxberg (Görlitz district) and was seriously injured. According to witness reports, he went off the road to the right on a right-hand bend on Friday afternoon and fell, the police said on Saturday. A breath test revealed a blood alcohol level of 1.92. A check also revealed that he did not have a driving license.

The seriously injured man was taken to hospital accompanied by the police after he had insulted the ambulance crew at the scene of the accident and resisted the necessary medical treatment, it said. There, he discharged himself against medical advice and was taken to his mother. The 51-year-old now reportedly has to stand trial for several criminal offenses.
