Fires - Man dies in fire in Berlin apartment building
At a fire in a six-story multi-family house in Berlin-Schöneberg, a man has died. The police assume that it is about the tenant of the attic apartment where the fire likely broke out on Friday evening, as a police spokesperson stated on Saturday.
Upon arrival of the emergency services, most residents of the building had already been rescued. The fire department reported that three people had suffered from light smoke inhalation.
Regarding the cause of the fire, nothing was known on Saturday morning. The fire had spread to the hallway on the same floor, the fire department added. Several apartments in the building were uninhabitable, the police spokesperson said.
The fire department was called to extinguish the fires in the multi-story building, potentially originating from the attic apartment. Given the location of the fire, investigations by the fire department and police may involve the fire department's investigation of the attic apartment in Berlin. Despite the efforts of the fire department, an unfortunate fatality occurred within the building.
