Investigations - Man dies after argument with partner in Kiel

Despite emergency surgery, a man in Kiel has died as a result of an argument with his partner. The 33-year-old and his partner, who was four years younger than him, got into an argument in the street at around 3.45 a.m. on December 14, police said on Monday. Shortly afterwards, emergency services arrested the 29-year-old woman at the scene without resistance.

The man was critically injured in the altercation. Rescue workers had to resuscitate him during the journey to hospital. The man succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning.

Because the woman may have acted in self-defense, the Kiel public prosecutor's office did not apply for an arrest warrant. There was no urgent suspicion. The woman has since been released. The police are now looking for witnesses to the dispute. Officers were unable to provide any information on the background to the crime on Monday. The investigation is still in its early stages.
