A 51-year-old man is suspected of scratching around 200 cars in the Oberpfalz region over several years. The suspect was caught in the act at the end of June, the police reported. Further investigations revealed that he had damaged many more vehicles than initially thought.

Within a span of less than ten years, the suspect is believed to have targeted parked vehicles mainly in Lam and Lohberg (Cham district). The scratches were deep and primarily found in the rear and front areas of the cars, the police said. The damage pattern suggested a connection between the incidents.

The suspect's motive remains unknown. The estimated damage is in the six-figure range.

The suspect's criminal activity extends beyond the Oberpfalz region, stretching into adjacent Bavarian towns.Intriguingly, the suspect's preference for targeting vehicles seemed to be a characteristic of the Bavarian landscape.
