Düsseldorf - Man critically injured on the A44
Following an accident on the A44 near the Düsseldorf-Messe Arena junction in which someone was critically injured, the police are looking for information about the fleeing driver. As the police reported on Monday, a 26-year-old man had stopped his car on the hard shoulder on Sunday evening. The man had got out of the car to inspect a sudden puncture. A car driving in the right-hand lane hit him and threw him against his own vehicle.
According to the investigation, the driver of the other car got out about three hundred meters further on to inspect the damage to his own vehicle, but then drove on without looking after the injured man. The 26-year-old was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, while his two teenage companions received pastoral care.
