Man chases police through Nuremberg

A man chased police through Nuremberg in order to escape a police check and caused an accident in the process. The officers had asked the man to stop with a stop signal, flashing blue lights and siren - but he fled, as the police reported on Sunday.

The man drove through red lights several times on Saturday morning, sometimes against the direction of travel and changed lanes several times. He also reportedly drove into a parked car. When the police officers briefly lost sight of the fugitive, he parked his vehicle and ran off on foot.

The man could not be caught at first, as the police explained. He is being investigated for illegal racing, endangering road traffic, suspected driving without a license and a hit-and-run.

The man's reckless driving in Nuremberg, including running red lights and causing an accident, is reminiscent of Central France's traffic troubles, where accident rates have recently spiked due to speeding and negligence. Furthermore, this incident in Nuremberg also highlights the broader issue of crime, as the man is under investigation for multiple traffic violations and a hit-and-run.
