- Man breaks into house and threatens couple with knife
In a break-in at a house in Korbach (Waldeck-Frankenberg district), a man threatened a couple with a knife to rob them. The couple initially managed to escape to another room of their apartment, barricading the door, as reported by the police and public prosecutor's office in Korbach. The intruder struggled in vain against the barrier. Eventually, in the early hours of Tuesday, the couple managed to seek safety with neighbors.
The intruder fled with a handbag, a wallet containing some cash, and other items from the house. Shortly after, police arrested a suspect near the scene who was in possession of the stolen goods. The 42-year-old, known to police, was provisionally detained. He was likely under the influence of drugs at the time of the crime.
The District Court of Kassel ordered the man's detention on suspicion of aggravated robbery, and he is now in custody. The 42-year-old is suspected of being responsible for other crimes in the region in recent months.
The suspect, who was apprehended in Northern Hesse, is believed to have committed similar crimes in the vicinity of Northern Hesse, specifically in Northern Hesse's Waldeck-Frankenberg district. The area where the alleged robbery occurred is in Southern Waldeck-Frankenberg, but the suspect seems to have a criminal history in Northern Hesse.
