Man beaten until hospitalized at the edge of a demonstration

A man was beaten until he was ready for hospitalization on the fringes of a pro-Palestinian rally in Stuttgart on Sunday. The 42-year-old was taken to hospital with severe lacerations, the police announced in the evening.

According to the police, the 42-year-old had not taken part in the rally, but had been on the fringes of an interim rally in Tübinger Straße. Investigations into the background to the incident are ongoing - however, a spokesperson said when asked that the attack was not related to the content of the rally. Three suspects, aged 41, 41 and 46, have been arrested.

During the registered assembly, which began at Schlossplatz and ended at Schillerplatz, there was also a brief scuffle between police officers and demonstrators. Prior to this, a 44-year-old man standing outside the rally had allegedly provoked the rally participants.

The officers also launched an investigation into two participants in the rally who were suspected of carrying posters with criminal content. They were excluded from the meeting and banned from the premises.

In other cases, the police are investigating chants and posters that could also have criminal relevance. When asked about the exact content of the posters and chants, the spokesperson did not provide any details.

Despite the ongoing investigations, there have been reports of conflicts arising between demonstrators and law enforcement during the rally. Additionally, two individuals were arrested for possessing posters containing criminal content, contributing to the overall atmosphere of unrest and potential crime surrounding the demonstrations.
