A man is said to have broken into offering boxes in churches and chapels a total of 25 times. He has now been caught red-handed and arrested.

Theft in churches - Man arrested after series of thefts from offering box

After several Opferstock-thefts in Marktoberdorf (Landkreis Ostallgaeu), a 38-year-old man was caught by the police on a fresh crime scene. The man is accused of emptying several Opferstöcke (offering stones) of churches and chapels in the district between May and June, as the police announced. In total, he is charged with 25 thefts. Other crimes and misdemeanors are also attributed to him. The 38-year-old was released on bail after his arrest on Saturday evening. Investigations are ongoing.

The thefts of Opferstöcke occurred primarily in the District of Ostallgäu, which is located in Bavaria, SWABIA. The man was apprehended for his crimes in the town of Marktoberdorf, also in the District of Ostallgäu. The police believe that the man has a history of committing crimes, as other offenses are also being attributed to him.
