Werra-Meißner District: A Local Government Area in Germany - Man accused of assaulting physician while intoxicated
A 48-year-old man allegedly assaulted his treating doctor in a hospital located in Eschwege (Werra-Meißner-Kreis). He inflicted light injuries on the doctor and grabbed her phone, tossing it on the ground as she attempted to make a call, according to the authorities. There was initial confusion over whether the patient was in the ER or admitted into the hospital.
It was initially reported that the doctor managed to escape to an elevator, waiting for the emergency response team. Upon their arrival, she received medical treatment for her minor injuries.
The police claimed they repeatedly told the man to leave the premises. However, he failed to comply with their request. The officers proceeded to use physical force in evicting the suspect, leading to him allegedly attacking a police officer and causing minor injuries.
Authorities later revealed that the man was under the influence of alcohol and other drugs, resulting in an unpredictable state. Consequently, he was forcibly admitted to a psychiatric hospital against his will.
The man is under investigation for potential offenses of inflicting bodily harm, assault, resisting arrest, as well as property damage.
