Current Climate Conditions - Majority of European elections proceeded undisturbed despite the heavy floods.
The recent flooding has had an effect on the European elections in Bavaria. Some polling stations needed to be relocated due to flooded rooms, while in other cases, municipalities had to issue new ballot papers and deliver them to voters with the mail-in ballot papers via courier. The flooding occurred mainly during the first weekend of June.
Despite these difficulties, the district of Günzburg reported that everything is going smoothly. While a few polling stations were moved, the affected voters were notified. The district is now reachable by phone and the internet, and the results will be transmitted later.
A spokesperson from the district administration in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm echoed the same sentiment, stating that everything is running smoothly. Two polling stations were moved, but the voters were aware of this.
In several other districts, new polling stations were set up due to the flooding. Affected municipalities are located in Aichach-Friedberg, Augsburg, Freising, and Neuburg-Schrobenhausen.
In addition to the European election, there is also a district council election, five mayoral elections, and 14 citizen initiatives on the ballot in Bavaria on Sunday.
