Police - Major fire in former car dealership: children or teenagers wanted

After the large fire in a former auto shop in Kempten, the police are searching for children or teenagers. Several young people were reportedly present in or near the building just before the fire broke out, the police stated on a Friday. A boy aged between 12 and 15 years old is said to have run away from the former auto shop towards Bahnhofstraße with a blue football jersey number 7. The investigators have not yet been able to determine whether the children or teenagers had anything to do with the fire ignition, it continued.

According to the reports, a damage of one million euros was caused by the fire on Tuesday evening. A neighboring residential house had to be evacuated. At times, the power supply in the western part of the city had to be shut off for safety reasons. Approximately 1000 people were affected.

Police statement

The major fire in Kempten's former car dealership in SWABIA on Tuesday evening has raised concerns. The police are investigating if any of the youth reported near the site before the fire could be connected to its ignition. Despite the significant damage estimated at one million euros, no injuries have been reported among the local residents who were evacuated. The search for the boy wearing a blue football jersey number 7, who was seen running away from the scene, continues.
