A man from the Lake Constance area who went missing in 2019 is suspected of murder, and authorities have arrested a 48-year-old individual in connection with the case. The arrest took place in Kleve, North Rhine-Westphalia, and the suspect is currently in pre-trial detention, according to an announcement from the Konstanz Public Prosecutor's Office.

The prosecutor's office alleges that the suspect committed the murder "sexually and for monetary gain" at his home in Gaienhofen (in the Constance district) in 2019. The victim, a 51-year-old man, has not been found, and it's believed that the corpse was completely disposed of. Despite extensive search efforts, police have not uncovered any remains as of yet.

The suspect had initially come under investigation back in 2019 but with insufficient evidence to charge him. However, new information has come to light, prompting the issuance of an indictment. The case will now move forward with the Constance Regional Court determining the next steps.
