Mainz sports boss Heidel not thinking about quitting in the crisis

Sporting director Christian Heidel is not thinking of a premature departure from FSV Mainz 05 in the crisis situation. "I'm not the type to say: "This no longer suits me and tomorrow I'll no longer be here," he said in an interview with the "Bild" newspaper (Tuesday). "That's not going to happen, Mainz 05 is far too important to me after more than three decades - I'm here with all my heart and soul." He has an agreement with the club "that if one side - the club or I - feels that it no longer fits, then we will sit down together and shake hands".

The 60-year-old sports manager has left open the question of whether interim coach Jan Siewert will succeed Bo Svensson as head coach. "We have to decide what is the best constellation for the team and this club in order to A have the greatest chance of staying in the league and B be able to play successful Mainz-05 soccer," explained Heidel. "A decision like this deserves time. And we are taking our time."

Despite the current crisis, Christian Heidel remains committed to FSV Mainz 05, as he stated in the Bundesliga club. Heidel's role as sports director is crucial to him, having been part of Mainz 05 for over three decades. The future of interim coach Jan Siewert as potential head coach is also under consideration, with the ultimate goal being to keep Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga and continue playing successful Soccer.
