Paul Nebel comes back to Bundesliga team FSV Mainz 05 following a two-year stint with Karlsruher SC. The club has extended his contract for an extra two years until June 2027. "The two years at Karlsruher SC made me progress quite a bit, I'm very thankful for this time. I'm immensely glad to be back in Mainz. It feels like being home again, yet it's also a new beginning and the next level in my growth," expressed Nebel in the announcement.

Mainz and head coach Bo Henriksen managed to achieve a spot in the Bundesliga during the previous season and are now preparing for another season in the top tier. "He made a big impression with stellar performances in the past two years in the Second Bundesliga, the loan period did exactly what we had hoped for. Now, he's returning to us as a seasoned pro," said Mainz's sports director, Christian Heidel.
