Mainz 05 continues to rely on coach Siewert for the time being
Following the resignation of coach Bo Svensson, FSV Mainz 05 will continue to rely on former U23 coach Jan Siewert for the time being. "He has stabilized the team, scored twice and picked up four points. He'll remain our coach for the time being and can play a permanent role. There are currently many indications that we will continue with him," said Mainz sporting director Martin Schmidt on Saturday after the 0-0 draw in the Bundesliga at promoted Darmstadt 98.
When asked, Schmidt confirmed that the club was currently "not in negotiations" with other coaches and that there were "no contacts". "We have full confidence in this constellation," said the 56-year-old. Siewert impresses with his direct and clear approach. "A lot has changed in terms of motivation and the structure of training," reported Schmidt.
Siewert's sudden promotion as the interim coach of FSV Mainz 05 has proven effective in Bundesliga, as evidenced by their recent draw against promoted Darmstadt 98, where they managed to score twice and collect four valuable points. Despite the availability of other potential coaches, Mainz is currently satisfied with Siewert's direct and clear approach, opting not to engage in negotiations with other candidates.
