In the Spree Park in Cottbus, various characters from movies, video games, and legends will gather starting Friday. The Elbenwald Festival is primarily a meeting for fans of popular fantasy and science fiction series like Harry Potter, Star Wars, or Lord of the Rings, according to the organizers. The main focus is on communal dancing. However, cosplays, workshops, readings, lectures, and discussions are also planned.

Most elves, hobbits, or Jedi knights come in self-sewn costumes and change their attire daily, the organizers say. In previous years, one could spot the Cheshire Cat from "Alice in Wonderland," Morrigan from the game "Dragon Age," or Nymeria Sand from the series "Game of Thrones." The festival is suitable for all ages, with seniors even joining as elderly wizards, the organizers add. Children can also participate with adult supervision, with free entry for those under 6.
