With all new signings, except for Mohamed El Hankouri, 1. FC Magdeburg started its seven-week preparation. The team of trainer Christian Titz was on the training ground for the first time on Tuesday. The day before, various medical tests were completed.

El Hankouri is still in the rehabilitation phase after his syndesmosis injury. Alexander Nollenberger had to abort the training session, the offensive player received a hit on the hip and suffered problems with the hip flexor.

Martijn Kaars was also present. The striker, with 21 goals in 38 games for the Dutch second division team Helmond Sport in the previous season, is supposed to solve FCM's problems in the attack. "We are happy that we have a player like Martijn who has experience. But he is starting anew here," said trainer Christian Titz to MDR.

For the new season, Titz hopes that his team will be successful with an average of over 60 percent ball possession. "I hope that we will create more chances and ultimately also score more goals," said the 53-year-old.
