The police in Magdeburg are investigating a man who uttered xenophobic slogans on a tram. The 46-year-old was noticed on Saturday evening singing these slogans, the police reported. He and his companion had to leave the tram. An investigation against the man has been initiated.

The day before, the police launched an investigation against a 20-year-old who used symbols and greetings from the Nazi era that are generally known to be unconstitutional on the Eichplatz in the state capital. He also assumed the corresponding body posture, the police explained.

In Magdeburg, the city's transportation authority is considering implementing stricter policies on hate speech, following these recent incidents on public transportation. The man who sang xenophobic slogans on the tram and the 20-year-old who displayed Nazi symbols on Eichplatz both face legal consequences, potentially leading to changes in the city's railway regulations.
