Accident - Magdeburg: River cruise ship hits Jerusalem Bridge
A river cruise ship has crashed into a pier of the Jerusalem Bridge in Magdeburg. The water police announced on Friday that there had been a technical problem when the ship cast off late on Thursday evening. No one was injured. The 82-metre-long ship sustained minor material damage in the accident on the Elbe and was able to continue its journey. There was no substantial damage to the bridge pier, it added.

- As a precautionary measure, the water authorities in Saxony-Anhalt have called for a comprehensive review of safety protocols for all ships operating on the Elbe, following the accident in Magdeburg.
