The football club 1. FC Magdeburg has recruited external defender Philipp Hercher. Previously, he belonged to 1. FC Kaiserslautern and is now a member of the Elbe team. The team made this announcement on a Friday. "With Philipp's arrival, we're getting a player with a wealth of experience in the 2nd and 3rd leagues who can play flexibly on the wings and add more boost to our attack," explained Sports Executive Manager Otmar Schork. The length of the contract was not mentioned.
Born in Rheinfelden, Baden-Württemberg, Hercher played for SV Ihrlerstein's youth squad and Jahn Regensburg before making his way to 1. FC Nürnberg, where he progressed to the professional level. He was lent out to VfR Aalen from this club and later played for SG Sonnenhof-Großaspach.
In the summer of 2019, Hercher moved to Kaiserslautern. There, he competed in 36 2nd league matches and 89 3rd league matches for the Palatinates. "We're getting a quick, versatile player for the wings with Philipp," said 1. FC Magdeburg coach Christian Titz.
