Theater - Lydia Bunk takes over as head of drama in Eisenach
Freelance director Lydia Bunk is to become the new head of drama at the Landestheater Eisenach. The 53-year-old will take over responsibility for the new department from September next year, the theater announced on Tuesday. Eisenach artistic director Jens Neundorff von Enzberg commented on the selection process, saying that Bunk was the most convincing of almost 20 candidates.
The Landestheater Eisenach is to have its own spoken theater production for adults again in the future - until now the focus there has been on children's and youth theater.
Born in Berlin, Bunk studied philosophy and theater studies. Bunk has been working as a freelance director since 2000. She has worked in Aachen, Magdeburg, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Chemnitz and at the Volksbühne Berlin. Most recently, she directed Shakespeare's "Was Ihr Wollt" at Theater Freiburg and "Shakespeare In Love" at Theater Baden-Baden.
