Air traffic - Lufthansa: Slightly affected by computer chaos

The Lufthansa is currently only "mildly" affected by the worldwide computer problems, according to the airline in Frankfurt. "Delays and individual cancellations may occur," the company stated. There are no major consequences due to the IT issues, a spokesperson for the German Press Agency said without giving numbers. "Significantly affected is the flight operation at Berlin Airport." Lufthansa regrets the inconvenience for its passengers.

Computer problems caused extensive disruptions worldwide on Friday. In Germany, for instance, Berlin and Hamburg airports had to temporarily halt operations at the start of the holiday season.

The Lufthansa's operations in Frankfurt am Main, located in the German state of Hesse, have only experienced mild disturbances due to the global computer issues. The company, headquartered in Frankfurt, is monitorings delays and potential cancellations in air traffic. Despite these issues, Lufthansa's main hub in Frankfurt am Main continues to operate, albeit with some adjustments.
