Lufthansa buys 80 new aircraft at a list price of nine billion dollars
Detlef Kayser, the Executive Board member responsible for Fleet and Technology, explained that with this order Lufthansa is accelerating "the largest fleet modernization in our company's history". The order list of around 200 aircraft has thus increased to 280 - plus 120 purchase options for further ultra-modern short and medium-haul aircraft.
According to Kayser, the new ultra-modern aircraft offer passengers "additional comfort, they are quieter, more economical, more efficient and emit up to 30 percent less CO2 than their predecessors". The order is an expression of the future viability and investment capability of our airlines and shows that "we are living up to our responsibility to reduce our CO2 emissions".
