State Statistical Office - Lower energy consumption in industry in Saxony-Anhalt
Industrial companies in Saxony-Anhalt consumed less energy last year than in the previous year. Compared to 2021, consumption fell by 7.2 percent to 239 petajoules, as announced by the Saxony-Anhalt State Statistical Office on Monday. The decline was therefore below the national average of 9.1 percent.
With the exception of the district of Stendal, where consumption increased by 3.3 percent, consumption fell in all other districts and independent cities. Energy consumption in industrial companies fell the most, by 29.9%, in the district of Wittenberg. In terms of energy sources, natural gas accounted for 34.8 percent, ahead of electricity (15.4 percent).
