Fraud - Love scam - woman unexpectedly gets money back

Without knowing that she had fallen victim to a love scam, a woman received her transferred money back. The 69-year-old woman from the Vorpommern-Ruegen district in Germany allegedly transferred 32,800 Euros to a doctor abroad out of love, according to the police. She had met the man online and had transferred the money to him after a certain period of time.

The police stumbled upon the scam by chance. They had been investigating another case and became aware of the transferred money sum of the 69-year-old through a bank transaction. The woman had not yet realized that she was a victim of so-called Love or Romance Scamming.

  1. The woman, hailing from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's County of Vorpommern-Rügen, specifically from Stralsund, was unaware she was in a fraudulent situation.
  2. The police in Germany, while investigating a crime in another area, discovered the unusual financial transaction from the woman to a foreign doctor, which was a clear indication of potential fraud.
  3. This incident of fraud took place in the heart of Germany, with the unwitting victim being a woman who had been deceived out of 32,800 Euros due to her love for someone she met online.
  4. Desiring to help the victim, the police in Germany vowed to bring light to this Love Scam, a common crime that affects many individuals not only in Stralsund but across Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the nation as a whole.
