The sunny weather on Tuesday also attracted many vacationers and locals to the beaches in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The Baltic Sea, currently at temperatures around 20 degrees, provided refreshing relief.

The German Weather Service (DWD) had forecast daytime high temperatures of 27 to 31 degrees for the northeast. In Warnemünde, 28 degrees were measured in the afternoon. It remained cooler on Rügen, with Binz reporting 22 degrees. Temperatures of about 15 degrees are expected for the night into Wednesday.

The polar bears at the Rostock Zoo were given "ice bombs" for cooling by their caretakers. This time, fish was served as an insert, but frozen melons could also be served as a snack on such days, it was reported.

The meteorologists also predict holiday weather for Wednesday. It will remain sunny and warm during the day with up to 31 degrees, before showers move in from the southwest in the late afternoon. In addition, there may be heavy thunderstorms with heavy rain in some places, it was reported.

Despite the predicted high temperatures of up to 31 degrees for Wednesday, the polar bears at the zoo will continue to receive "ice bombs" for cooling. After enjoying fish in their "ice bombs", they might also get a chance to savour frozen melons as a snack on such hot days.
