Losse-Müller calls for a decade of investment

The SPD state parliamentary group leader Thomas Losse-Müller also sees Schleswig-Holstein facing financial challenges as a result of the Federal Constitutional Court's budget ruling. "We are now actually facing a decade of investment," said Losse-Müller on Monday in the run-up to the state parliament session starting on Wednesday. These are not only necessary to deal with the consequences of climate change, but also, for example, for the urgently needed renovation of schools in the state.

A few days ago, the Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe prohibited the subsequent reallocation of coronavirus loans for climate protection and the modernization of industry.

On Thursday, the state parliament will discuss the SPD's proposal for a billion-euro transformation program. The parliamentary group wants to enable the socially just transformation of Schleswig-Holstein into a climate-neutral federal state by 2040 with an emergency loan of 11.6 billion euros. Finance politician Beate Raudies assumes that, according to the latest ruling by the judges in Karlsruhe on the federal budget, investments in dyke construction, for example, are also possible if they avert potential natural disasters.

Against the backdrop of the gaping hole of 494 million euros in the Black-Greens' plans for the 2024 budget, Raudies and Losse-Müller warned of possible cuts in the social sector. The state government must present proposals on how to close the gap as soon as possible, said Losse-Müller, referring to Daniel Günther. "The CDU Minister President must first say where we stand."

The SPD, led by Thomas Losse-Müller in the Parliament of Schleswig-Holstein, is pushing for a billion-euro transformation program to combat climate change and modernize schools. Despite the Federal Constitutional Court's ruling prohibiting the reallocation of coronavirus loans, Losse-Müller and finance politician Beate Raudies believe that investments in projects like dyke construction are still possible.
