German Football League - Long-term member Eberl aims to restart activities and continue progress.
Max Eberl, the sports director, recently discussed upcoming changes with the arrival of Vincent Kompany as the new coach. "Bayern has spent years shaping the team, not looking for a revolution, but growth," commented Eberl during a function in Munich. "We've had a goal in mind - to bring back something we've lost over the years."
Much has been planned in secret during Kompany's appointment process.
Throughout Kompany's hunt for a new coach, numerous adjustments could be made for the squad's development. "We are open to change, and we successfully managed that during our search for a coach," expressed Eberl at the "Future of Football" event hosted by "Sueddeutsche Zeitung" and "Stadion der Traeume Munich" ahead of the 2024 Euro Championship.
Eberl did not mention any new Bayern players. "By creating a new competitive environment, we can trigger motivation," he shared. This doesn't imply a serial exchange of players, however, as contracts are involved.
Integrating youth players as role models and promising newcomers is Eberl's priority. "It's crucial that Bayern follows in the footsteps of the other top clubs in the world," he stated.
Kompany brings "energy, zeal, and power" to the table
Eberl described Kompany, a 50-year-old executive, as "an amazing coach with remarkable talent in managing large enterprises," and stressed that "enthusiasm, passion, and energy" can make a difference.
Kompany as the "people magnet" for Bayern
Eberl noted that the commotion surrounding the coach selection should take a back seat to Kompany's accomplishments. "The most vital aspects are success and professional football. The noise will eventually subside," he explained.
Kompany must also become a crowd-pleaser to boost Bayern's appeal. Eberl described it as "queer" that there was not total agreement within the Bayern administration on a new coach, as they were primarily engaged in dialogue and discussion.
Ever since March 1st, Eberl has held his position as sports director. "Bayern Munich is incredibly more potent than anything I've witnessed in all my years in football," he reflected, noting how his role is guided by long-time Bayern leaders Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
