Because of water contamination, people living in Passau and its nearby regions have been advised to boil their water. This warning includes not only the city of Passau but also the towns of Salzweg, Straßkirchen, and Tiefenbach, as announced by Stadtwerke Passau on a Thursday. Additionally, the Inn-Haibachtal Water Association's water supply region is affected. At first, the reason for the polluted water wasn't apparent.
