- Little work for the police at the heavy metal festival in Wacken
Fans at the Heavy Metal Festival in Schleswig-Holstein's Wacken are largely relaxed. The number of incidents remains manageable, with the festival being exceptionally peaceful, the police reported. Around 85,000 visitors are currently on the festival grounds.
"Here and there, police intervention was necessary to mediate and clarify situations," the officers wrote. However, a 62-year-old man sleeping in his locked car had unwanted visitors in the early hours. Around 5:00 AM, he woke up to the interior light and noticed someone rummaging through his cockpit. "The intruder fled upon discovery, apparently without taking any loot."
Minor Incidents
Two men had to leave their cars after police reports indicated they did not have driver's licenses. In one case, four people in a car traveling through Gribbohm near Wacken were all without licenses, so they had to continue on foot. The 28-year-old driver faces a criminal charge and had to post a €500 security bond.
The W:O:A is considered one of the largest Heavy Metal festivals worldwide. Thousands of fans turn the town of 2,000 inhabitants into the scene's hub for several days. Tonight, the Scorpions were set to perform as one of the headliners, alongside acts like Korn, Blind Guardian, Extrabreit, and Gene Simmons, the singer and bassist of Kiss who is now touring with his solo band.
Info
Despite the large crowd, the majority of vehicles on the festival grounds were legally driven. Unfortunately, two individuals were identified without valid driver's licenses, leading to their vehicles being impounded and their departure from the event. Despite these incidents, Germany's Heavy Metal festival in Wacken continued to maintain its tranquil atmosphere, with over 85,000 attendees enjoying the music and festivities.
