On an industrial site in the Weimarer Land district, lithium batteries caught fire. An employee of the company in Isseroda - a suburb of Grammetal - managed to drive the corresponding batteries out of the tent where they were stored using a forklift in the evening, as the police reported. This reportedly helped prevent the fire from spreading to another area. The man suffered a mild case of smoke inhalation and was taken to a hospital, according to the police.

Based on current information, a technical malfunction is believed to be the cause of the fire, the police said. However, this still needs to be investigated further. The estimated property damage is around 30,000 euros. Residents were advised to close their doors and windows due to potential hazards from smoke.

The police suspect that there have been previous fires on the industrial site. This can only be confirmed once the investigation is complete.
