Readings and talks - Literature festival launched in Potsdam

Under the motto "Forward to Nature!" the annual Literaturfestival LIT:potsdam was kicked off. Journalist and literature critic Denis Scheck opened the one-week festival in the Schlosstheater in the New Palace in the evening. He is the artistic director of LIT:Potsdam for the second time in a row. Until Sunday, readings, talks, and film screenings are on the program. There is often a focus on the relationship between man and his natural environment, but also on the situation in Eastern Germany.

The authors Charlotte Gneuß, Matthias Jügler, and Steffen Mau will address the question "Does the East remain different?" on the coming Sunday at the Villa Quandt. "With a view to the upcoming state elections and the voting behavior of young voters in the eastern German federal states, these questions gain special urgency," according to the announcement of the organizers.

On the coming Wednesday, filmmakers Volker Schloendorff and Dieter Kosslick will engage in a conversation about the African forest. Following this, Schloendorff's film "The Forest Maker" will be shown. On Festival Friday, the author of the "Kangaroo Chronicles", Marc-Uwe Kling, will be on stage in the park of the Villa Jacobs, which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
