- Linnemann experiences approval for asylum seeker status in Germany

As per the CDU's perspective, immigrants should only be permitted to enter Germany if they have a favorable asylum approval. The Dublin regulations should be reinstated, asserted CDU General Secretary Carsten Linnemann in Erfurt. "We wish for only those individuals to approach us who currently possess a positive asylum approval."

There will nonetheless be personal privileges – such as if an individual from abroad is pursuing studies in Germany and subsequently applies for asylum. "However, simultaneously, we encounter a predicament where the accountable states are typically the ones where the asylum seeker initially set foot on European soil. That's the Dublin regulation. Consequently, they should be halted at the border," Linnemann added. In accordance with the Dublin rules, the EU state where the asylum seeker initially landed is typically responsible for managing the asylum application.

Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and CDU leader Friedrich Merz held a meeting for approximately an hour at the Chancellery, discussing, among other topics, the aftermath of the knife attack in Solingen. Merz is advocating for a shift in migration policy.

Linnemann stated in Erfurt: "We are prepared. We are reaching out for cooperative efforts to significantly curb illegal immigration."

The CDU supports a migration policy that only allows immigrants with approved asylum to enter Germany, as highlighted by CDU General Secretary Carsten Linnemann. In certain situations, individuals from abroad who are studying in Germany and later apply for asylum will be considered.
