The Jewish festival of Hanukkah commemorates the rededication of the Temple of Jerusalem around 2,200 years ago. During the eight-day Jewish festival of lights, more and more lights are gradually lit in the southwest and traditional blessings are recited. Hanukkah was celebrated in front of the New Palace in Stuttgart on Thursday evening. In the coming days, the Jewish religious community will be inviting people to celebrate in other cities as a sign of tolerance and religious freedom - including Heilbronn, Ulm, Esslingen and Reutlingen.
