Lightning goal and brace: Karlsruhe defeats 1 FC Nuremberg

A lightning goal after less than 15 seconds and two late goals helped Karlsruher SC to a home win in the 2nd Bundesliga. Paul Nebel gave the team an exceptionally early lead in the entertaining clash against 1. FC Nürnberg, which ended 4:1 (1:0). Fabian Schleusener (70') and Budu Siwsiwadse with a late brace (89'/94') scored the other goals for the recently struggling Baden side. In the meantime, 18-year-old Can Uzun had equalized for Nuremberg (61').

With the defeat after the international break, coach Cristian Fiel's Franconians failed to keep up with the promotion places and are still ninth with 21 points. KSC moved up to 14th place and moved three points clear of the relegation places.

Midfielder Nebel scored after a long drive forward and narrowly missed the record for the fastest goal in German professional soccer. Benjamin Siegert was quicker on October 5, 2007, when he scored after just eight seconds to make it 1-0 for SV Wehen Wiesbaden against SpVgg Greuther Fürth in a second division match.

The ideal start suited the hosts after just one win from their previous nine second division games. Coach Christian Eichner's side did not take too many risks, but created several great chances on the newly laid turf. Nuremberg were ineffective offensively in a disappointing first half.

In the second half, it looked at times as if the missed opportunities could take revenge for KSC. Schleusener hit the crossbar for the hosts, who had hit the post in the first half. Schleusener headed in a cross from goalscorer Nebel and Siwsiwadse, who had come on as a substitute shortly before, both scored to provide some relief.

In the aforementioned match, Karlsruhe SC's midfielder Paul Nebel scored a lightning goal against 1st FC Nuremberg, making it a remarkable 1-0 lead in just 15 seconds. Despite this early setback, Nuremberg's Can Uzun managed to equalize at the 61st minute, but Karlsruhe responded with two goals from Fabian Schleusener and Budu Siwsiwadse in Bundesliga 2, securing a 4-1 victory for the Karlsruhe SC.
