Light aircraft makes an emergency landing - pilot uninjured
A light aircraft had to make an emergency landing in Gelnhausen (Main-Kinzig district) on Friday afternoon. The pilot and sole occupant survived the landing maneuver unharmed, the police reported. The 33-year-old had taken off from the airfield in Reichelsheim in the Wetterau region. The woman had already noticed problems with the front wheel during take-off, which is why she decided to make an emergency landing. When touching down on the grass, the front wheel broke off, the plane tipped forward and finally came to a standstill after a gliding phase. The amount of material damage was initially unclear.
The incident prompted air traffic control to issue a warning for the RHEIN-MAIN area, as the downed aircraft could pose a hazard to other flights. Despite the hiccup in air traffic, no accidents were reported due to the quick response and careful maneuvers by other pilots.
