Ligament injury: Mainz's Onisiwo out until December
FSV Mainz 05 will be without striker Karim Onisiwo for several weeks. As the Bundesliga club announced on Tuesday, the 31-year-old suffered a ligament injury in his left ankle during the match at SV Darmstadt 98 (0:0). Depending on the healing process, the Austrian international will be available again in December.
Onisiwo has not scored in his nine appearances so far this Bundesliga season. The attacker, who has played for Mainz since January 2016, has a total of 32 goals and 29 assists in 193 first division games. His contract with the 16th-placed club runs until the end of June 2026.
Despite Onisiwo's absence due to injury, FSV Mainz 05 will continue their Bundesliga journey. The team will miss the striker's contributions, as he typically contributes in key matches, such as during their Bundesliga clashes, like the recent draw against SV Darmstadt 98.
