President of the State Parliament - Liedtke ends the year with a Christmas poem
Brandenburg's state parliament president Ulrike Liedtke has bid farewell to the parliament with a poem by Theodor Storm for the Christmas break. "Every day in our lives should be a Christmas day where we receive and give out peace and joy," said Liedtke on Wednesday in Potsdam. The text is "really appropriate for our situation".
The President of the state parliament thus ended a special session in which the majority of parliament once again declared an emergency for 2024 following the Federal Constitutional Court's budget ruling. This is intended to secure the billion-euro Brandenburg aid package in the energy crisis. Saying goodbye to the Christmas break with a poem is a tradition at Liedtke.

The tradition of saying goodbye to the Christmas break with a poem is a annual event for Ulrike Liedtke, the president of Brandenburg's state parliament. Liedtke, who has been in office since 2016, utilized this tradition during the parliament's special session to address the lawmakers, urging them to see every day as a "Christmas day" filled with peace and joy. Despite the parliament's declaration of an emergency for 2024 due to the Federal Constitutional Court's budget ruling, which aims to secure the aid package in the energy crisis, Liedtke's poem about Christmas brought a sense of warmth and cheer to the State parliament's proceedings.
