Team Sport Involving a Ball and Goals - Lichtlein is crowned young player of the season; Grgic finishes third.
The top young talent in handball, Nils Lichtlein from Füchse Berlin, has been awarded as the best up-and-coming player of the season. Voted by coaches and club managers from Bundesliga teams, Lichtlein prevailed over Justus Fischer of TSV Hannover-Burgdorf and Marko Grgic of ThSV Eisenach.
Having played in 33 of the 34 games for Berlin last season, Lichtlein had a big role in securing Champions League qualification for the club as a playmaker. His remarkable contribution even earned him a spot on Germany's national team as well as in their Olympic squad in France.
Amazingly, Marko Grgic, one of the promising newcomers of this Bundesliga season, also made his mark. At just 20 years old, the backcourt player played a significant role in helping ThSV Eisenach achieve a shocking league survival. He further proved his mettle by making his international debut for Germany in mid-May.
