Oldenburg - Letter carrier stores more than 400 letters in his home

The police have discovered more than 400 undelivered letters at the home of a letter carrier in Oldenburg. Officers found the letters on Saturday while investigating another matter, a police spokeswoman said on Monday. It is still unclear why the 26-year-old was storing the mail. The letters had not been opened. They were supposed to have been delivered to a district in Oldenburg at the end of October and beginning of November.

The letters were seized and handed over to the postal service provider so that they could still be delivered. The police are investigating the 26-year-old for violating postal secrecy and embezzlement.

Most recently, the police in Munich identified a letter carrier who is said to have disposed of around 1000 letters in clothing containers and garbage cans. The letters found were to be delivered.
