Letter carrier allegedly disposed of almost 1000 letters
The Munich police have identified a letter carrier who is said to have disposed of around 1000 letters in clothing containers and garbage cans. The man is accused of violating postal secrecy, a spokesman for the Munich police headquarters said on Tuesday. The letters found were to be delivered.
As the police announced on Sunday, a local resident had observed the incident on Friday afternoon and alerted the police. The officers then discovered letters in the Neuhausen district of Munich that had been disposed of and not delivered. The identity of the suspicious letter carrier was initially unclear.
In light of the incident, the Upper Bavarian authorities are now investigating potential crimes related to postal services, given the suspected violation of postal secrecy. The alleged misconduct reportedly occurred in the region of Upper Bavaria.
