Art - Lenbachhaus shows treasures of the Blauer Reiter group of artists
The Lenbachhaus in Munich is presenting its treasures from the Blauer Reiter group of artists in a new way. "Der Blaue Reiter. A New Language" will be on display from March 12 next year.
The reason for this is a major exhibition in London from April 25 to October 20, 2024 at the Tate Modern with many loans from Munich, as the Lenbachhaus announced on Wednesday. As many famous paintings are traveling to London, the Munich gallery wants to highlight rarely shown works during this time and place the work of the artists in a wider historical context. A film and library area is also planned. The Städtische Galerie owns famous works by the Expressionist group of artists, such as Wassily Kandinsky, Gabriele Münter and Franz Marc.
Other highlights at the Lenbachhaus include exhibitions of works by the Chinese multimedia artist Cao Fei (April 13 to September 8, 2024) and the Turkish writer and artist Orhan Pamuk (May 18 to October 13, 2024). On October 15, the show "But living here? No thanks. Surrealism + Anti-Fascism" (until March 2, 2025). From November 12, Rosemarie Trockel and Thea Djordjadze will then present their works.
