People - Lena Dunham: "Will not make Polly Pocket movie"
US-actress Lena Dunham ("Girls") no longer works on her film about the character Polly Pocket, according to her own words. "I'm going to tell you something I haven't told anyone yet: I'm not going to make the Polly Pocket movie," the 38-year-old told US magazine "The New Yorker."
She had worked on the script for three years, Dunham reported. "I feel that the next film I make has to be a film I absolutely have to make. No one else could make this but me. And I thought others could make 'Polly Pocket.' "
Lily Collins was supposed to star
The classic Polly Pocket toy sets consist of the namesake mini figure and a foldable box. Actress Lily Collins ("Emily in Paris") was supposed to step into the role of the children's toy figure. "I can hardly wait to dive into this pastel world," wrote the 32-year-old British actress in June 2021 on Instagram. As a child, she was "obsessed" with the toy. With the project, in which she was supposed to also serve as a producer, she had fulfilled a dream.
Dunham is best known as the creator and protagonist of the HBO series "Girls" about four young women and their everyday problems in New York.
