- Leipzig's Haidara is not participating in any games.
Leipzig's Amadou Haidara won't join Mali for the upcoming international break due to a head injury and will remain in Germany instead. This was revealed by Leipzig today. The incident happened during Saturday's thrilling 3-2 victory over Leverkusen.
In the heat of the match, Leverkusen's forward Victor Boniface went for an audacious overhead kick in a crowded box. Unfortunately, it was Haidara's head that took the brunt of the impact rather than the ball. Consequently, the 26-year-old midfielder had to be taken off the field. Coach Marco Rose mentioned afterward that Haidara was encountering difficulties with remembering the game's time and result. Boniface received a caution for the incident.
Despite the intense challenge, Boniface's overhead kick resulted in Haidara's injury, preventing him from joining the Mali's national team during the upcoming international break. Given his head injury, Haidara must focus on his recovery in Germany.
