In the court trial concerning three individuals charged with attempted murder and hazardous attack, the accused admitted to the alleged incident at the inaugural hearing of the Hanau Regional Court. The leading suspect, however, declared he had no intention of killing the victim. He supposedly aimed to only rough him up and scare him.
It is alleged that the man, motivated by teaching his mother's partner a lesson, tried forcibly entering the 47-year-old victim's apartment alongside a friend and their cousin, with the intention of assaulting him. As per the indictment, ten gunshots were fired at the man's apartment door. The prosecution accuses the defendants, aged between 31 and 33, of attempted homicide and hazardous attack.
According to the charges, the individuals went armed with a telescopic baton and a handgun, knocking on the door of the third floor apartment. Upon seeing the trio through a cracked opening and hearing death threats, the man is said to have immediately shut the door. The defendants then allegedly attempted to break through the door. The 33-year-old main suspect is accused of firing ten close-range shots at the lock and door, and at the victim hidden behind it. One bullet is said to have penetrated the door, ultimately lodging in the kitchen floor. Fortunately, the 47-year-old suffered no injuries.
The prosecution has suggested revenge as the underlying motive, with family conflicts forming the backdrop. The victim is alleged to have previously assaulted and kicked the main defendant's mother on multiple occasions. The jury court has scheduled five trial days by the end of September.
The case is currently being heard at the Hanau Regional Court, specifically in the Chamber of the Court of First Instance. The three defendants are being tried for their alleged involvement in the attempted murder and hazardous attack.
After the incident, the case was transferred from the Court of First Instance to the Higher Regional Court for further proceedings due to the severity of the charges and the complexity of the case.
